We invite all who value this calling to explore the opportunities below to engage, assist and learn about UMC mission. 

The 6th Annual Northeastern Jurisdictional Mission Academy
Mission: The Tie that Binds
April 14th-17, 2020
Laurelville Retreat Center in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania 

This event is open to all United Methodists who want to develop their skills and knowledge for mission and disaster response. This year's event will feature guest speakers Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi and Dr. David Scott, Director of Mission Theology for Global Ministries. 

Course offerings include: Chainsaw Safety Training; "Skilling Up" a hands-on basic skills course for disaster recovery; UMCOR Disaster Response classes on Foundations of Disaster Response; Connecting Neighbors, Cleaning Out Flooded Homes, Site Assessment, and Logistics; UMVIM 101, UMVIM Team Training, Church Safety Awareness and more. 

The cost is $300 per person (shared room, meals included) for the entire 4 day event. Scholarships are available for qualified individuals; email Tom Vencuss for information on scholarships and any questions that you may have about this training. 

There are also rates for commuters and daily rates for prospective attendees who can't stay the whole time.

Mission U 2020 (Formerly the Cooperative School of Christian Mission) 

Learning Together for the Transformation of the World
July 24-26, 2020
The Hilton Stamford Hotel 

This event—sponsored by United Methodist Women and the New York Annual Conference of Board of Laity—is a three-day gathering that provides opportunities to study current issues impacting society with particular attention to the responsibilities of women in fulfilling the mission work of the church. 

Participants grow in understanding the mission of the church in the current world context; conference events are open to members and non-members of United Methodist Women. There are also rates for commuters and daily rates for prospective attendees who can't stay the whole time.
